BIdialogyca — Digital library of Spanish dialogues translated into Italian — proposes to work on a wide corpus covering the 16th-17th centuries.
Both in the past and today, translations are very often rewritings of Spanish works, especially relevant for the changes, additions and new transformations from the original text. Of a similar nature is the effort involved in their reworking for Italian audiences, in terms of concepts, style and language.
The study and analysis of the dialogues written in the Iberian sphere and translated into Italian, in the most interactive and freely accessible way, will shed light both on the connections between the different peoples and cultures of Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries and on the main topics dealt with at that time, such as ethics, science, politics, astrology, etc. This project offers a new, original and innovative approach in this field.
This research is closely related to a major Spanish research project Dialogyca BDDH (Biblioteca Digital de Diálogo Hispánico del Grupo de Estudios de Prosa Hispánica Bajomedieval y Renacentista (eProMyR) adscrito al
